Evangelists' Gathering 2008
Over 100 attended the Evangelists' Gathering at the Essenhaus in Middlebury, Indiana December 8-10th.   It was a wonderful time of spiritual renewal and fellowship.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support during this important time in the lives of the evangelists and their families.

Evangelists' Gathering: December 10-12, 2007
This year we had an exciting three days with our evangelists at the Oakwood Conference Center in Syracuse, IN. The opening banquet speaker on Monday evening was Dr. Chuck Millhuff, Revivalism Ministries Coordinator. Our Tuesday morning speaker, Marc Royer, pastor of the Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene in Goshen, Indiana, and the pastor representative on the God-Called Evangelist committee, inspired everyone by quoting scripture from 4 New Testament.  Dexter Manley, an American Football League Defensive end for the Washington Redskins from 1981 to 1991, shared his dynamic testimony in the Tuesday evening service.  Jimmy Dell hosted the Tuesday late night "After Blow" fun time.  The music by Commissioned Song Evangelists Vance & Jeannie Sharp was outstanding and inspirational.

Waiting School Four (May 25-27, 2007) with Elaine Pettit and Company was the greatest, most glorious Waiting School yet! The altars were so packed that many knelt down the center aisle as well! Many people were saved; many others were sanctified. One man was delivered from marijuana. Others were healed. The Sunday Morning Worship service began at 10:00 a.m. (following Sunday School at 9:00 a.m.) and ended at 3:00 p.m.!!!!
People came from all over the United States including: California, New Mexico, Maine, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Georgia, Kansas, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. We were very privileged to have Rev. Cecil Jones, District Superintendent of Maine with us, as well as Susie Shellenberger, editor of Brio magazine at Focus on the Family. We had a Russian exchange student, Sergei, who was sanctified at Waiting School Three. So many attended that we filled all of Oakwood's rooms (some had 6 in them!), rented two cottages (which sleep 12 each), tents, RVs, one even slept in her car! We have been looking into the possibility of securing a larger facility, as we anticipate even larger crowds for Waiting School Five!

Going Public with the Gospel: Reviving Evangelistic Proclamation
A new book by InterVarsity Press

Some people say public proclamation of the gospel is just an outdated form of evangelism. "It'll never work in this day and age," they say. Authors of Going Public with the Gospel Lon Allison and Mark Anderson disagree: "As for being ineffective and outdated, major evangelists like Billy Graham and Luis Palau are seeing larger attendance at meetings than any other time in their careers . . . All Mark and I are saying is that the gospel is the 'great idea or story' that deserves to be heard in the marketplace and Aereopaguses of the twenty-first century."

In Going Public with the Gospel Allison and Anderson explain the basis for the revival of the public proclamation of the gospel, how it became "lost" amid other forms of evangelism, and how it can work today.

Syracuse—Ninety-four Nazarene evangelists and spouses gathered at the Oakwood Center in Syracuse, Indiana for their annual retreat and conference, The Evangelists’ Gathering, December 8-11. Olathe, Kansas College Church of the Nazarene pastor J. K. Warrick shared insights into recent culture shifts, and how they affect the ministry of the evangelist, challenging participants to cast a fresh vision for their ministries. Evangelist Bill Cobb provided music for the event. In the extra Prayer Seminar, Evangelist Elaine Pettit (pictured) challenged her colleagues to invest significant prayer efforts in their ministries, sharing many victories she has been given in her ministry experiences.
